 Exodus 12:1-14

"The exodus is a powerful symbol that the present situation does not define what is possible for God."

—Terence E. Fretheim

In this season, we will be journeying throughout the book of Exodus on Sunday mornings, exploring the concept of divine promise that leads the Israelites from oppression to freedom, absence to presence, disorder to order, darkness to light, the wilderness to the Promised Land. Each theme has the power to call our souls into a deeper union with God, a union that is much needed in this liminal season. This week we learn about a ritual during a time of crisis. We hear God telling the Israelites to prepare a feast before they are led out of Egypt. Why does God give these instructions to the Israelites and what does it mean for our faith today?
