In our text this week, the prophet Jeremiah answers God’s invitation to imagine God in a new way—God as a potter shaping God’s people. Judah’s injustice, hardness of heart, and spiritual bankruptcy have caused God to plan an end for the kingdom…but the future of Judah is not set. God the potter returns to the wheel to remake the clay and asks the people of Israel to repent so their kingdom can be reshaped.
