Jeremiah 36: 1-8, 21-23, 27-31

What happens when God says something that you would rather ignore?

How is one to respond to God's admonishment to turn away from sin and evil and turn towards God--when turning away requires more than a person is ready to give?

Does God allow people to ignore God's teaching--without suffering any consequences?

Our series on the book of Jeremiah, one of three major prophets in the Old Testament, continues this week with King Jehoiakim being presented with the word of the Lord written on a scroll. The King does not like what the scroll says and tries to do away with the word of the Lord by shredding the scroll one piece at a time. But God reveals Godself as one who will do anything to ensure a message reaches its intended recipients in hopes that they will experience life to its fullest.

Join us this week as we ponder how God might be speaking truth to power in similar ways today, sing restorative and joyful songs, gather at the altar where all are welcome for the sacrament of Holy Communion and no one is turned away, and experience authentic community.
