Deuteronomy 18:15-20 & Mark 1:21-28

Matthew begins his core teaching with the Sermon on the Mount. Luke's emphasis is on the first sermon Jesus preaches in the synagogue where he unrolls the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Mark immediately sets the tone of his gospel with a conflict between good and evil, one in which voices that stand in opposition to Jesus and the ministry to which he has been called are hushed. What voices need to be silenced today because they speak a language that is contrary to the ways of God? What barriers to love, justice, or mercy might Jesus be seeking to disrupt or dislodge today? Whose authority matters the most to us? Join us on Sunday as we dig deep into the first miracle in the New Testament, wrestling with these questions and more.
