Embracing Rest || The Necessity of Rest
“The Sabbath remains the dessert most people leave on the table.”
–Christopher D. Ringwald
God works for six days and rests on the seventh day in the creation accounts found in Genesis. When God gives Ten Commandments to the Israelites, God adds sabbath keeping to the list. Jesus embodied a pattern of being with people and then retreating to rest and pray. Jews, Christians, and Muslims all have one day set apart from others each week. Why is it, then, that we have such a hard time honoring the Sabbath? What difference would a life of Sabbath-keeping make for us, our neighbors, and the communities of which we are a part? Join us this Sunday as our new series, "Embracing Rest" begins.
