How Does A Weary World Rejoice? || We Sing Stories of Hope || The Fourth Sunday of Advent

Rev. Dr. Donna Claycomb Sokol || Pastor

Luke 1:46-55, 67-80

How often do you turn to music when your spirit is down?

What songs do you sing when you need to be reminded of God's faithfulness?

When Zechariah’s voice returns after John is named, he sings a story of praise for God’s protection and promise. After Elizabeth exclaims blessings upon Mary, Mary also sings a song about a God of liberation who pulls the powerful from their thrones and lifts up the lowly. Both songs are songs of hope in which justice and joy are interwoven.

How might we learn to sing stories of hope, justice, and joy whenever our hearts or spirits are weary? How might singing be an act of liberation for a weary world in need of rejoicing?

Join us this Sunday for the fourth Sunday of Advent as we light the candle of love and ponder the power of singing.
